Paper evolves into ContractClub, offering contract drafting, templates, management tools and eSignatures. The team begins moving beyond small-business incorporation toward more complex legal workflows.

FBC becomes Athennian’s first entity management customer, validating the need for a better way to manage entity information. Simple by today’s standards, the early product lays the foundation for what Athennian will become.

PwC contributes $50,000 toward developing a more advanced solution. Working with paralegal Ebony Stofl, the team maps the complex workflows that will help shape the future Athennian platform.

The company rebrands as Athennian and enters the global entity management market with a cloud-first platform. Its combination of entity data, document automation, eSignatures and regulatory integrations offers a modern alternative to legacy systems.

Major law firms begin adopting Athennian. The company secures seed funding and announces an exclusive Canadian e-filing partnership with ESC Corporate Services.

As COVID-19 accelerates the shift to cloud technology, Athennian secures new investment and customer projects that support continued growth and strengthen its position as a cloud-first entity management platform.

Later that year, Athennian announces its Series A, completes its SOC 2 Type I audit and brings the Redox Technologies team into the company to strengthen ownership and structure visualization.

Athennian grows to more than 70 employees and reaches 20% market share among Canada’s 30 largest law firms. New funding supports continued investment in the platform, customer experience and team.

Athennian raises CAD $42 million in Series B funding. With 10x ARR growth over two years, more than 2,500 users and nearly 400,000 entities managed on the platform, Athennian is named a Deloitte Technology Fast 50 Growth Company.

Athennian expands its customer base across law firms and corporate legal departments while growing its Partnerships network of governance advisors and implementation partners.

Athennian AI also launches, bringing AI-powered document processing and record creation into entity management workflows.

Athennian expands its vision beyond entity management. New partnerships with HSP Group, Orbitax, Alpha Alternatives and Mitratech, together with Companies House and AWS Marketplace, create a more connected platform for legal, tax, finance, compliance and fund teams.

Athennian strengthens its presence beyond North America, with a growing focus on Europe and leadership on the ground in London. The company continues building around durable customer needs while the market rapidly shifts toward AI.

Athennian launches Athennian for Private Markets and announces a strategic collaboration with PwC UK. Ten years after Paper Interactive was incorporated, more than 500,000 entities across over 150 countries are managed on Athennian.
